Thanks to Belinda Stewart for kindly agreeing to run the very successful Blaenavon Ride again this year. The landlord of the Whistle Inn very generously allows us to use his field as a venue.
Plenty of cantering over open hills with fantastic views. Incorporates part of the National Cycle Network. 16km & 26km routes (10 & 16 miles). Pub open all day. Non riding members can visit Big Pit National Coal Museum within walking distance of the venue.
Please note: We have changed the short route as part of the cycle track has been closed due to opening up the railway for steam trains. This could be a health and safety risk for any horses riding past a steam train! A revised talk through is now available by clicking here. The ride map has now been updated with the new route.
Please also note that Belinda is away from Monday 21st June until Sunday 27th, so maps will be put in the post to people on Monday 28th June. Make sure you have the right postage on you SAE or your details may not arrive in time!

Venue: If not local, I advise you follow the A465 pass Abergavenny towards Brynmawr. Do not turn onto the B4246 signed Blaenavon/ Big Pit but continue on the A465 for about 2 miles to a roundabout. Go straight ahead to continue on the A465. As you climb through Clydach Gorge you approach another roundabout. Take 1st left signed Brynmawr & Big Pit, follow to next roundabout & turn left. Follow this road for about 2 ½ miles, crossing over 2 cattle grids. You will see a sign for Whistle Inn, turn right down to the pub car park.
Please note Blaenavon show is the same day about 1km further along the road.
Route: Will be marked with orange tape + orange spray paint. Cycle track + roads marked using sawdust.
Hats: Riders must wear properly secured hats or crash helmets at all times when mounted.
