In 2011, in an effort to avoid crossing the increasingly busy A49, and railway lines, a new route was planned over Wenlock Edge towards the very picturesque Much Wenlock.
The revised route offered something for everyone with distances from 30km to 100km. The longer distance rides had the intermediate vet gates out on the course, away from the venue and gave a nice variety of countryside to ride through.
The map shows the 2011 route as some minor tweaks may be possible for the 2012 ride to reduce road work and gates.

Please note that Group Associate Members and Non-members may only enter Class 20; the 30 km NCR (Non Competitive Ride).
However, a new scheme; the EGB Try Before You Buy scheme, was introduced in 2011 and gives an opportunity for those new to endurance riding to enter a novice competitive ride up to 40km before applying to become an EGB member and registering their horse. Successful completion of the ride is awarded with an appropriate rosette. No trophy points can be gained and no progression towards novice qualification can be gained. This offer is purely to allow non-members to experience a competitive ride and is limited to two rides per applicant.
Try Before You Buy can be only applied for online and rides must be entered on line.
The whole event is sponsored by Dengie, and takes place with the kind permission of The National Trust, The Forestry Commission, Youth Hostel Association, as well as local land owners.
